LONG BEACH

PRIVATE RESIDENCE, LONG BEACH, NY

This project came to us in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which destroyed the existing canal-fronting ranch-style home. The client came to us looking to build a new, modern, flood-resistant home. Our design has been sculpted through rigorous study of the new post-Sandy zoning and FEMA flood regulations for the area. The result is a new residence comprised of a series of carved boxes. The main home sits almost nine feet above grade, and the flat roof design allows for eleven-foot ceilings in the main living spaces, while respecting the low-scale context of the neighborhood.
